pg_dump's help provides this near the bottom:
If no database name is not supplied, then the PGDATABASE environment
variable value is used.
Shouldn't that read:
If no database name is supplied, then the PGDATABASE environment
variable value is used.
or:
If the database name is not supplied, then the PGDATABASE environment
variable value is used.
