With 8GB, you cannot use "bytea" on PostgreSQL.
There is support for PostgreSQL Large Objects with ora2pg; you'd have to read the
documentation to find out more.
I cannot help you with the memory allocation error, mostly because you
didn't tell us what exactly you did to trigger it.
