Right-click and edit the server properties before you try to connect.

OK, first off, please update to 1.4.2 - 1.0.2 is very old and not really supported any more. Give it a try and you should be able to edit the server properties. iirc, you couldn't in 1.0.
 
And no, not London - I'm near Oxford.

It is PgAdmin ver 1.0.2 and its running with XP professional. Are you in London?
