Hello all!

Is it possible to return a row or a set of rows from a user defined funcion?
Can I use user defined functions as "stored procedures"?
What I'm looking for is something that with 2 parameters (a pattern and a
table name) retrives me those rows of that table that matches a pattern.

I'm very new to pgsql and english is my second language!

No. Several workarounds, such as using arrays or views are known, but none
really suffice.
