psql bug: copy paste statements looses tab character

this happens in 7.1.3 (included in red hat 7.2).

e.g.
CREATE TABLE items ( item_id SERIAL, name VARCHAR(32)
);

copy pasted in psql gives this

marius=> CREATE TABLE items (
marius(> item_id

marius(> item_idSERIAL,
marius(> name

marius(> nameVARCHAR(32)
marius(> );
ERROR: parser: parse error at or near "("

this will work:
CREATE TABLE items (
item_id SERIAL,
name VARCHAR(32)
);

I've seen this behavior on sybase's sqsh once, perhaps it's something
system wide, and not psql's fault?

Tab triggers word completion in psql. If you don't want this, disable
readline support when you start psql (psql -n). It might be possible
to turn off word completion without losing other readline features;
not sure.

It's definitely something in your terminal driver. Some X terminal
implementations are really bad at being able to copy funny characters.

Cancel that. Of course it's the tab completion. I just have really bad
experiences with terminal drivers. :-(
