So we maintain all those and similar urls indefinately? Seems like a
major headache in the long term.

Regardless, the answer is still not duplicating the content - we should
redirect the urls to the new location if they must be maintained.

Well, it is the price we pay for giving out the same url for many years
and then changing it suddenly. :)

I thought of just changing the majordomo, but did a google search and
found that there are still over 26,000 references to this page out on
the web, so decided that a quick non-404 solution was better than none.
'Twould be best as a rewrite at the Apache level, as well as a
majordomo update.

Which reminds me, does anyone monitor the error logs to catch this
and other 404 errors? Magnus caught this one (thanks!), but I am
pretty sure it was from clicking on it, and I doubt he was the
first one to encounter it. Ideally, we should have noticed within
an hour of the first occurance in the logs.
